Carnage Sora: When Awakening Becomes the Enemy

LORE — WALLHACK

Carnage Sora: When Awakening Becomes the Enemy

Collectibles & Lore · Art by Rolua · Glass Mouse Pad Drop

Sora's power woke. Then it kept going - past the point she could contain it. That was the brief we gave Rolua. We asked them to interpret what that moment might look like.

About Rolua

Rolua (ろるあ) is a Tokyo-based illustrator and character designer. Their work spans light novel illustration, VTuber character design, and VOCALOID music videos - built on a signature approach to color that balances vibrance and restraint to create compositions with clear visual weight.

Solo exhibitions at Anicoremix Gallery and hands-on demonstrations in Osaka and Harajuku have brought that work into physical space.

Artist Notes: Rolua on the Making of Carnage Sora

Concept

I created this piece with the intention of expressing something like an "awakening." By adding cracks around the eyes, I imagined it might also look cool if it conveyed a slight sense of tension, as if the character were being somewhat consumed by her power.

What Rolua Focused On

I drew this with the intention that the light and colors would stand out once it becomes a glass mouse pad. I paid particular attention to the expression of light, and by scattering fragments of glass, I imagined it would appear more striking when realized as a product. As part of the light expression, I also added noise and softened the lines slightly so that the image would be easier to perceive as a single cohesive piece.

The Challenge

Because it will become a glass mouse pad, I considered not only how it would look on a monitor but also how it would appear when actually placed in a room. I aimed for it to function as a piece of art while still blending naturally into the surrounding space.

What to Look For

I especially like the expression in the areas where the glass fragments appear transparent. Not only did I try to represent light as part of a three-dimensional effect, but I also illustrated light itself as a form of expression - so I would be happy if people take a close look at that.

One More Thing

I created this piece aiming to make something that I would personally want to own. I am really looking forward to seeing the final product.
